What do you think??

Okay - now I think I like it better.  I had a brainwave this morning, right out of the blue, how to improve the baby quilt I am making!
Imagine it with a narrow blue border and then a wider border of maybe the aqua (not sure ..suggestions?)  At least not the stars look like the background and the focus is on the yacht.  I would have like to add a surfing kangaroo as the dad is into surfing but I am no artist and there was nothing I could find that was simple enough to applique.

At least I am happier with it now.  What do you think?

Till next time.........happy stitching!

  2. I absolutely love it!! Great idea. I would probably go with a grey outer border....but then that is just me! Great job!

  4. Love the sailboat. Have you thought of putting a navy inner border around it? Maybe the same fabric you used with the sailboat?

  5. What a great baby quilt! I'm with Donna. I would consider a navy inner border to set off the darker sailboat. You can always lay it out and see what that would look like before you sew it.

  6. The boat is a great addition... do you know the name chosen for the baby? as you could applique that at the top on an angle? I like the idea of a narrow navy strip and then the aqua... xxx

  7. Sorry I've missed you for a few days. I've been sick and busy (a bad combination). I like this quilt and love the boat. I'd suggest that you use some of the blue from the boat in the border or binding.....but that's me (drag everything to the end).

  8. Lovely! I love that sailboat! What about adding a simple surfboard label at the back? That would be a nod to dad? I like your idea of the thin blue border and definitely the same blue again for the binding: classic!

  9. I think the boat looks perfect on your quilt. I have done that before.....you get all done and everything blends. I really do like the idea of a surfing kangaroo though.
