What happened to my baby!

Who took my baby and left this six foot tall fellow in his place!  He has made the decision to move to a bigger High School next year where he will be with his mates instead of his twin and today we went to get his new uniform.  He is going on camp with the new school in a week's time and needed to get the school sports uniform for the camp so we picked up the rest of his uniform as well.  He has to wear a tie but he didn't have to try that on.

Here is another sneak peak at what my current project is - one of them anyway.    It is a McKenna Ryan project.  I love her work but with all the tedious cutting out that needs to be done, which my hands don't really appreciate, I doubt I will ever make a whole quilt of her patterns as much as I would love to.
These bits are tiny!  I hope I can sew them down nicely and I see why she uses mostly batiks.  I think the tight weave of the fabric will give a nicer finish!

It is one week since we posted off the 49 boxes of goodies to the Aussie soldiers in Afghanistan.  One week down and two or three to go!  I spent some time last week collecting more goodies and packing up another ten boxes which I posted off today.  I don't think I can do another ten this week but I am hoping to send another box off on Monday - I just need to see if I can get the contents.  I will keep you posted but it is a surprise so until I know it will fall into place Mums the word!

And here is another sneak peak of another Christmas present.  This one is all cut out and ready to sew.  There is one more fabric to go with these - the one that pulls them all together but I can't show it to you yet as it will give the show away!

Till next time......happy stitching!

  1. Well,I am a twin and I was never happier than when I went off to a place where no one was going to compare me either positivly or usually negatively with my twin. I hope the school will meet his expectations. He is one handsome kid, all six feet of him!
You sure know how to keep the dust from gathering under your feet!

  3. Our babies do grow up so fast, your boys will probably appreciate the time apart but also miss the other one. It must be like having you best friend with you all the time-------well, maybe that is an exaggeration, maybe it works the other way. See you are making some more soldiers happy, bless you.

  4. Such a handsome young man...I like the idea of all the students wearing a designated set of clothes...here in the US we could use more of that thinking. My DH went to military school from little on and always wore a uniform.

I agree with you...McKenna's patterns are so wonderful - I did a small wall hanging and that about did in the fingers with all the cutting...doing a large quilt would be daunting.

  6. Isn't it amazing how they grow up? It's wonderful and thrilling, and terrifying to let them go but such a necessary part of life. Wishes of great luck to him in his new school.

The fabrics are lovely and I can't wait to see what you create with them.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving (assuming you celebrate with us Americans).

  8. Oh wow, so tall & handsome in his new uniform. Isn't it fun when they change schools on you, just love buying private school uniforms, but geesh they are expensive. My sister-in-law cursed the day her middle girl moved from Ravenswood to Barker as it was another 'acceptance' fee of $2K, entire new uniform, new school run, new mothers to meet, bonkers!! It cost gazillions. Quite thrilled i have 3 girls who can all share uniforms, my son will enjoy his shiney new uniform & i'll buy super long for year 7 so he gets some longevity out of it. Enjoy the new school & i totally get putting twins in different schools, mine have been in seperate classes until now (year 4) & strangely, want to stay together again?? Gail Kelly (Westpac) put her triplets into 3 different schools, good grief!!
Finally, thanks for the amazing efforts you put into the parcels for Afghanistan, they have started to receive them & they are amazing. My husband feels like Santa. Love Posie
