IT'S THE SOLDIER
It's the soldier, not the reporter,
who has given us freedom of the press.
It's the soldier, not the reporter,
who has given us freedom of the press.
It's the soldier, not the poet,
who has given us freedom of speech.
who has given us freedom of speech.
It's the soldier, not the campus organizer,
who has given us the freedom to domonstrate.
who has given us the freedom to domonstrate.
It's the soldier, not the lawyer,
who had given us the right to a fair trial.
who had given us the right to a fair trial.
It's the soldier, who salutes the flag, serves under the flag and
whose coffin is draped by the flag,
who gives the protestor the right the burn the flag.
whose coffin is draped by the flag,
who gives the protestor the right the burn the flag.

Remembrance Day - Lest we forget.
Lump in my throat -- beautiful sentiment and beautifully written. Food for thought. Thank you for sharing Father's O'Brien's words.
ReplyDeleteAmen to that. ox
ReplyDeletethankyou for sharing that today...hugs
ReplyDeleteExcellent words by Father O'Brien.
ReplyDeleteWhen I think of our families long history of military service - from the Revolutionary War up to Bosnia (our son) and all wars in between, there is pride but I keep wondering when we will ever learn.
Bless all our vets...
Lets all remember those words and pass them on. Our thanks to all that serve and sacrifice so much for our freedom.
ReplyDeleteThey shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
ReplyDeleteAge shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.
We are 'the Lucky Country'!
ReplyDeleteHugs - Lurline♥
This is beautiful Jan-Maree, thank you. I also love that you have ties to Navy & Air Force, yet you are so willing to promote the Army, you are so unbais & kind. It certainly was a heavy day for me, love Posie
