More sneak peaks

Headed off to my local quilt store, good old Country Pickins this morning for some tearaway stabilizer so I could keep on working on my Kris Kringle projects and while I was waiting at the counter I saw this remnant.  Don't know why it grabbed me but I had to have it - not sure what I would do with it but I love the colours and pattern.  Wish I could get some more.  Not enough of the selvage to see the print name - probably just as well as I am supposed to be reducing my stash not increasing it!  It is really pretty though.
I managed some sewing this afternoon as planned.  I finally got the borders sewn on the baby quilt I have been working on for a while.  Work had stalled while I waited for the baby to be born.  He finally arrived on the 16th and that gave me all the details I needed for the labels on the back of the quilt.  This is supposed to represent the Southern Cross.  In each star I have  a few details,
such as baby's name
Mum and dad's names, weight and length.  I have the batting ready to go.  Now I just need to layer, quilt and bind it.  Hopefully that will get done by the end of this week.

After that I managed to make some progress on my KcKenna Ryan secret project.  I have now stitched all the letters
and have only to remove all the stabiliser - my least favourite job.  At least the stabilizer makes it so much easier to stitch!
All in all I achieved much more today that I thought I would.

I am beginning to think that I might spend January sorting thru my sewing room and having a good reorganise.  I am sure I have too much stuff in here that I am not using and it is taking up room so I can't see the things to do want to work on!

I am also thinking of spending the summer hols sorting thru my scraps and cutting them up to make them easier to use.  Just have to decided the best way to do that!  Any suggestions?  I kind of feel that a good tidy up and clutter bust will set me up for a much more productive year.  Hmmm, still thinking about it.

till next time....happy stitching!

  1. Have a look at this website

Bonnie Hunter has some great ideas about cutting up your scraps and using them.
Thanks for you lovely comment left on my recent post too.

  2. You want to be MORE productive??!! Yikes! That's crazy talk, Girl! I say, leave the room messy so the rest of us can catch up!

You know I'm kidding . . . the more you do, the more I get to enjoy through your pictures!

  3. You know, I really admire the way you can shift gears from one project to another! And you want to be able to do more of that? How could you possibly?

On the other hand, what quilter worth her salt does NOT need to organize? I say a clean, organized studio is a sign that nothing happens there!

  4. Lovely piece of fabric... looks a little ''Monet'' to me!!! You more productive hahahahahahahahahahahaaha xxxxx

  5. That is a beautiful piece of fabric and I love your applique work!

  6. Love your new fabric. What a great idea for the back of Isaac's quilt.
Girlie you can never have to much fabric. If you where any more productive you would be a tornado. I am so impressed by all the stuff you get done. I have not been able to sew for a few weeks and I am having major with drawls. I just do not know where time is going.

  7. OH fantastic & i assume when you said the parents height & weight, it's when they were born not NOW?? Looks so lovely & what gorgeous attention to detail, love Posie

  8. I really like your label designs for the baby quilt - may have to steal that idea. I am so with you on the organizing, decluttering process. I do think it will make a world of difference for me. Love your fabric remnant - such pretty colours.
