Hexagon beginnings....

Not much sewing so far today.  One of my dogs, Maisy, had to go to the vet for a teeth clean which resulted in two teeth being removed.  Let me tell you - she is much more stoic than I would be!  Then I had to run to the Quilt store to collect some hexagon papers for the Gumnuts (my quilt group) and then on the hot chocolate with my BFF Tarja (hi Tarja!) and then home to make beef stew for dinner (quite yummy) and then chocolate chip cookies for tomorrow.  I pay with cookies and muffins for haircuts with my friend Debbie and I am also sending some along with Linton when he goes ice-skating with his friends.  Then it was time to collect Maisy from the vet and fix the extras to go with the dinner and put some laundry on.  I have just sorted all the things that I need to take to quilt group tomorrow and now I am going to sew some more.  First I thought I would show you what we are going to start working on tomorrow.
I think I have shown you this before.  It is made up of a bunch of 1/2 inch hexagons.  A couple of the girls in the group sat and sewed all these and put them together last summer holiday and starting tomorrow we are going to start adding to it.
We have a huge range of homespun colours that one of the girls bought to make a quilt that she never got around to so we are going to make two quilts out of it.  One will be this one which will be "raffled" amongst ourselves and the other will be given to the local volunteer Fire Brigade to raffle.  We are going to surround these hexagons with a band of 1 inch hexagons like these.
After that we will decide what comes next.  What came next for me was a baker's dozen of kaleidoscope blocks - to add to my collection for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge.
That is it for me for tonight though - I am pooped and it is time for bed.  Till next time.....happy stitching!

  1. I'd be pooped too after all that! Poor Maisy! Hexagons, I have a love/hate relationship with them! But 1/2" hexies! Oh, my!

  3. Hope Maisy is feeling better by now. I wouldn't want to deal with hexies at all much less that many....they are too much work. As for your day, you should be getting extra zzz's after a day like that!

  6. I am always pooped after reading your blog. I think you must be all crazy ladies using 1/2" hexagons but I am sure after all the insanity the quilts will be stunning.
I too love your purple kaleidoscope blocks.
    (((HUGS))) Roz.
