Started today with a trip to the St Ives Markets to drop my green monster quilt off to the quilter, Trina from Anirt Quilting. I couldn't walk about the markets too much coz my knees are bad but I did manage to check out one stall with a heap of gorgeous rainbow dyed things. I love rainbow tie dying so I asked her if she ever does yardage as quilters would love it. Well, it just so happened that she had a 3 metre length which I supposed some people would use as a sarong or maybe a table cloth. I think she said the fabric was lawn. I think it will make a fabulous quilt backing! It is 3m x 1.5m or about 3 yds x 1.5.
I asked if she had any more and she didn't but she offered to make more and then she suggested making some with a smaller swirl - by this time I was stroking the 3m that I had and salivating - my husband didn't know quite what to say. Before I moved on I ordered another 3m of 12 inch swirls! Yum!!! I have no idea who many that will give me - but definitely enough for a quilt top, or more than one and hopefully, some for a giveaway. It will be at least a month before they are ready as the school holidays are coming up and then Easter. That's okay, I am in no rush!
Once that transaction was completed it was time to complete the grocery shopping and then head home. Today I completed my border on Andrea's round robin block - but I can't show you coz Andrea will read this and see it and she isn't allowed to. I also completed the four star blocks that i will send to Celia with a hexagon flower as part of our extra little swap for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge - but I can't show you coz I don't want to spoil the surprise for Celia and finally I have made four star blocks for a friend who doesn't know she is going to receive them but I can't post them either because they are so "her" that she might guess and it will spoil the surprise!
So, what i can show you is my progress in the Rainbow Scrap Challenge - this month being purple! First some flower blocks to add to my multi coloured collection
These are the mini pin wheels that always a bonus from these blocks
This was supposed to be another flower block but I messed it up and trimmed the corners before I realised so I finished it off differently and have decided that I will try and do something with it anyway coz I love the
purple fabric!
And this is a sneak peak at my main purple project for this month - you will just have to wait and see how it turns out......as will I!
Till next time....happy stitching!
You have been busy - can't wait to see all the surprises!

ReplyDeleteLooking forward to what you are coming up with next.
ReplyDeleteYou're such a teaser! That tie dyed fabric is to "dye" for! And, pinwheels, they're everywhere! Isn't it neat how sometimes when we "mess up", it turns out great!

The tie-dye is great and I would like to see the one you ordered, too. I love all your purple projects. You've given me some other ideas.
