Bits and Pieces

Just a quick post today.  I have been quite busy but no sewing.  First up another batch of Raspberry White Chocolate Muffins for after school snacks.  Then get the kids off to school and back home for a few chores and then a bit more cutting out for Bruce's quilt.

Before going to quilt group today I collected a quilting buddy Sharon and we went to check out a gorgeous little wool shop she has been to but I have never seen.  I wanted something interesting to crochet into another poncho.  This is what I came up with.......I just love the colours.

Next it was on to quilt group.  Lots of chatting today but no sewing.  We need to get another project under way so that is my mission for the next meeting.  We are going to make a Christmas quilt as a raffle prize for the local Volunteer Fire Brigade and we are going to make it out of five inch stars like the ones I make for Celia each month.  I will make sure I have some cut and ready to sew for our next meeting!

While we were chatting I worked on my knitting - another one of those ruffle-y scarves from a different yarn called CAN CAN.  I did most of  this today.  It knits up really quickly!

Don't you love my new colourful knitting needles!  So cool and only 25cm long so perfect for this scarf!
Before going out and after coming home I managed to finish cutting all the pieces to paper piece the stars for Bruce's quilt.
Now - frustration.  I still can't find the blocks I cut out for the LQS BOM.  So annoying!
So, I have decided to change directions until I find them.  I have enough red to re-cut another red block so I will do that but I have decided to re-start my second version.  I can't re-cut Kaffe so I have decided to start a THIRD version and here are the feature fabrics.  I will be fussy cutting the birds out of the top of these fabrics and the lovely round snow flakes out of the second one and having some fun with them.
I will be teaming them with these fabrics.  I had always intended to make a hot pink and orange quilt and have been collecting the fabrics.  When I find the Kaffe block I will continue that quilt but in the mean time I will start the orange and pink one.

That is it for me tonight.  It is time to collect Fly Boy from Air Force Cadets - something I dont normallt have to do - so I had better get going.

Till next time............happy stitching!

  1. Goodness gracious, Jan-Maree, I LOVE everything you're doing! The new yarn is beautiful; the blue ruffly scarf and funky needles (I want to learn how to knit that one); the new fabrics and the pink and orange fabrics - they are going to quilt up beautifully!! Looks like we're going to have plenty of eye candy for awhile! Thanks for sharing!

  2. What gorgeous yarn!!!Some day I want to learn to knit. I used to crochet and crocheted an afghan on every car trip we took (we took long trips!).
I also love the red/pink/orange fabrics! I love those colors together.
    Seems like you're plenty busy!!

  3. Kaffe, Kaffe----where are you? Seems that he is hiding in your sewing room. Love those orange and pink fabrics and they are so not my colors, but together they just shine. Have to go on the net and find some of CanCan yarn, maybe a call to the knit shop would be a good place to start. I am seeing these scarves on other blogs but always from my Austrailian friends. Hugs

  4. Those are some yummy colors! Sometimes I see beautiful yarn and wish I could crochet, but really, I have enough hobbies and certainly enough stuff. Can't wait to see the whole thing finished off. I can just magine those colors in a quilt....beautiful!

  5. I'm glad I'm not the only one to mis-place things. I keep thinking this place is so small ... where could anything go??? Even scissors I was using just a minute ago. It pays to have other projects in the wings.

  6. I found some pom pom yarn at JoAnn's yesterday I wanted to buy it so bad but I still have to learn how to knit and anyway they did not have lavender. I love your fabrics. Orange and pink sounds so cheerful and pretty and not wait to see what you do with it.

  7. I love the colour of the yarn - beautiful. I am totally with you on the orange/pink quilt. I had been collecting these fabrics along with teal to make a quilt for me but then I decided to use my orange/pink fabric in the quilt for the Garden Fence QA instead.
