YW Yankees and Dallas Cowboys

Just found out this morning that a good friend of ours, from the days when we lived in CT, has been diagnosed with a very rare form of bone cancer and has quite a struggle ahead of him.  His wife asked me if my husband could contact some of their old fellow work mates and rally them to send him some messages of support etc.  Gorgeous husband got right on it.

I want to do something so I offered to make him a quilt if she thought that would be a good idea and she said yes.  He is a huge Dallas Cowboys and New York Yankees fan so I am hot on to equilter and so on and am ordering in some baseball and football fabrics. Sadly there doens't seem to be any team specific fabrics around though I am sure there used to be but I will make do.  I haven't nutted out a design yet but that will happen in the next couple of days.  I am plannig to feature the NY symbol and the Dallas Cowboys star.

I know the main colours are navy blue and white - and will order in some navy and white stripe fabric and also some with team pennants on it - saying things like "touchdown", "play ball", "goal" etc.  I might use that for the backing.

If anyone has any other suggestions please let me know.

Till next time..............happy stitching!

  1. Quilck update - found some yankees fabric on ebay - let's hope it sells for a reasonable price and also found some Dallas Fabric on a website - that, plus the baseball and football fabrics should do it - now just need to choose a pattern!

  2. So sorry to hear the news of your friend. I'll add him to my list of prayers. Glad you found some fabric for him...I'm sure this will encourage him!

  3. I am so glad you found some fabrics. I was going to suggest going to quilt shops.com you never know what you will find there and sometimes on sale. So sorry to hear about your husband's friend. A quilt is just what he will need. I will keep him in my prayers.

  4. My prayers are with your friend. He will love the quilt!

  5. Thanks for a great post and interesting comments.
