I did it!!!!!...eventually...

I have been trying to think of something to make for my god daughter Emma for her birthday.  She lives in Perth and I am in Sydney so I don't see her very often so it is not always easy to know what she is "in to" etc but I know she loves to draw.  This is another reason why I love my blog and all those that I follow!  I saw loads of girls making journal covers and suddenly realised a journal cover on an art book would be perfect for Emma.  I googled and found a fabulous tutorial here by Ros of Bloom fame.

That is what I have been doing just about all day.  I thought I had it all sorted and just needed to iron the end result but when I tried it on the book it was too small - don't ask me where I went wrong with my calculations - I have no idea!!!  but luckily I was able to sew a bit extra on without it looking out of place and TA DAH!!!!!

A journal cover fit for a cute little God-daughter!!!
The front!
 The back cover!

I am so glad it is finished and I will definitely make more (and I will pay closer attention to the measurements next time!)

Now I am looking forward to working on my red scrap table runner tomorrow.  I have the top completed and tomorrow have to cut and piece the backing (a bit of a surprise planned there) and then quilt and bind it.  I probably won't get all of that done during the day tomorrow but I will give it a good go!  Unfortunately there is also a small matter of arranging an evening meal for the hubby and sons who expect to eat each day (what's with that!)  and a bit of Mum taxi driving to do so, as well as a couple of errands (post office, grocery shopping!) to do!  Blahh!!!  I would rather just sew!

Till next time!  Happy Stitching!
