All cut up!!! and really pleased...

That is what I have been doing today.  Cutting and cutting and cutting.

First for Celia - we are doing a swap this year.  She gets 2 1/2" squares and 5" stars and I get 6' tumblers and 5" log cabin blocks.  I cut up all the squares for the swap using my GO!
and all the pieces to make her star blocks.
A quick question - should the GO! cut cleanly every time?  I get lots of little threads where the cut isn't clean and often have to use scissors to cut pieces apart.  Also how many layers of patchwork fabric does everyone feed through at once?

Then with the GO! again I cut lots of tumblers in hues pulled from the cute bird print on the top.  These are going to make four placemats for my niece in England.

And lastly I cut out the rest of the pieces I needed to complete the fifteen stars to go with some stars Celia sent me for the Aussie Hero Quilts.
I even managed to cut the binding for one of the Aussie Hero Quilts
Tomorrow is going to be sewing day - as much as I can.  I find I am much faster at completing things if I do all the cutting then all the sewing etc.

And what am I really pleased about?  Apart from the fact that I got all that cutting done today that is?  I received a parcel in the mail yesterday from my blogging friend, Julie.  I won a giveaway on her blog and look what I received.......
A gorgeous dragon panel.

I hadn't quite decided what to do with it but when I showed it to Guitar Hero today he thought it was really cool so I asked him if he would like to have it as the centre panel on a quilt for him and he was really keen. Not sure when I will make it for him but I will put it on my list.

Till next time.happy stitching!

  1. That's a lot of cutting. Funny, that is what I did today too...mark and cut three inch squares. I hope you can find some use for the panel. I have one that I have been quilting with gold thread to use as a table runner ...some time this year...

  2. good job cutting, I get little snags on some dies too and have the die pick, I use max 6 layers. less of course if it has heat and bond on it for applique, then I only do 2 or 3.

  3. You got a lot done yesterday. I like cutting several projects at once also , then I can get right to sewing when the mood hits me. Even when I was sewing clothes (ugh) I would never cut and sew on the same day. Thank goodness I don't have to make clothes anymore. When did you get a Go? I missed that. The Go will certainly help with your soldier quilts.
